Federal has added a new winter tire to its Himalaya portfolio. Called the Himalaya SUV, this tire has been designed for 4×4 use under extreme winter conditions, including ice. The tire features a squarish tread block and a newly developed silica compound which increases the ability to grip snow. A longitudinal groove pattern is intended to deliver sure-footed traction and straight line stability on snowy pavement. Also, the ladder-shaped slope design along the groove allows slush to evacuate for optimized winter driving, according to Federal. The tire is available in 55- to 70-series aspect ratios, wheel diameters of 16 to 18 inches and a T-speed rating.
