Bosch has launched the new heavy-duty Long Haul Extreme alternator in 170- and 200-amp versions suited for the severe operating conditions in today’s commercial vehicles. Benefits of the advanced technology brushed alternators include fast installation, superior power output on the road and at idle, longer life, greater efficiency and less weight compared to similar brushless alternators, the company said. Dual internal cooling fans help maintain the alternator’s even temperature under all operating conditions, while “intelligent” battery-sense technology voltage regulators have thermal protection to sense high underhood temperatures that could damage the alternator.
