Pomp's Tire Expands Business with Cross-Midwest Acquisition

Green Bay, Wisc.-based Pomp’s Tire Service Inc. continues to expand its business to new territories with the acquisition of Cross-Midwest Tire Co.

Based in Kansas City, Kan., Cross Midwest Tire Co. operates 14 commercial locations throughout Illinois, Kansas and Missouri, with three Bandag retread locations. According to Pomp’s Tire President Jim Wochinske, Cross-Midwest will still operate under its original name as a division of Pomp’s Tire.

As one of the largest commercial tire dealers in the U.S., Pomp’s Tire already operates 25 commercial locations and 49 retail/commercial tire stores in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin, and has 13 Bandag retread locations.

Pomp’s Tire previously acquired six Petro’s Tire Sales & Service stores in Indiana in 2008.

The acquisitions transaction closed on Nov. 30, and specifics were not released.

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has named Ryan Waldron as president of the company's Americas business unit, reporting to Chief Executive Officer and President Mark Stewart. He succeeds Steven R. McClellan, who retired on April 1.
