Falken Tires scored a victory last weekend in the Ultra4 Racing off-road series when John Mackiewicz and co-driver Jonathan David won the 4600 Class at the “2018 Rock Krawler Showdown in Shamokin,” in the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area of Coal Township, Pennsylvania.
Seventy-three racers entered the two-day competition, running the 13 miles of the race and competing in six classes on park terrain that included high-speed flats, hills, tight turns, heavy-forested woods and large rocks and mudholes. Mackiewicz and David, running a 2001 Jeep TJ, performed the three laps with no flats or punctures, taking the win and finishing nearly 40 seconds ahead of the second place team. Currently, Mackiewicz and David are in first place in series points in their class.
“This was a great win for Falken and John and Jonathan,” stated Brandon Barberena, Falken Tires’ new supervisor of light truck and off-road events, “Our Falken Wildpeaks proved they were up for the job and confidently took our team through some incredibly tough conditions to victory.”
The Ultra4 Racing series challenges drivers to compete in a wide variety of terrain from endurance desert racing to competition-style rock crawls to short course racing.
The next event takes place May 11-12 when the 6th Annual Ultra4 Metalcloak Stampede race returns to Prairie City SVRA (State Vehicular Recreation Area), near the Sierra Nevada foothills, 20 miles east of Sacramento.  More than 100 racers are expected to compete.  For more information, visit www.ultra4racing.com.
