BKT has developed a new compound for its BKT Radial ’70 and ’85 series products that the tiremaker said offers a 30% improvement in cut and chip resistance. After several market surveys conducted in which the tires were used in severe conditions, the manufacturer said it was able to identify the physical property cause for cutting and chipping, and that its engineers were able to develop a new compound with an optimized polymer type proportion, a more reinforcing carbon black type and a more effective vulcanizing system. Several Agrimax ’70 and ’85 series tires with the newly-developed compound which was released into production in January have been manufactured.
