Chrysler Group chose the W-speed rated Firestone Firehawk GT Pursuit tire – in size P225/60R18 – as an original equipment fitment for the ready-for-duty 2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit.
According to Bridgestone, the Firehawk GT Pursuit is specifically designed for law enforcement use, combining wet and dry handling with an emphasis on quick steering response. The tire features three key technologies: high silica tread compound for enhanced traction and braking on wet roads; Veri-Pitch technology for a reduction of noise; and an asymmetric tread pattern that channels water to increase the grip surface for enhanced all-season capability, the tiremaker said.
In testing conducted by Police Fleet Manager in 2009, the Firehawk GT Pursuit tire was rated the best overall tire, as well as earning a top spot for overall wet-oriented performance. The tire has been tested at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department, which Bridgestone noted is a highly recognized certification and testing agency for pursuit tires.
