Louisville Metro Police have apprehended a man accused of lying about his identity to steal more than $11,000 worth of tires.
The suspect, from Jeffersonville, Ind., pretended to be an employee of Tire Plus Total Car Care in order to steal tires from a Firestone Complete Auto Care, according to police reports.
Tire Plus Total Car Care and Firestone Complete Auto Care are both brands of Bridgestone Retail Operations, a division of Bridgestone Americas.
On multiple occasions between July 7 and Aug. 30 the suspect misidentified himself to pick up tires from a Louisville Firestone.
On Aug. 30, the suspect got into an argument with another man. The man attempted to remove the keys from the suspect’s truck and call the police when he was struck in head with the phone, police said.
The suspect was arrested on Oct. 14 and is charged with theft and assault.
