Industrias del Neumatico SAU, a Spain-based retread operation, placed first with a Alphatread-brand mold cure tire on a Hankook casing. Industrias del Nuematico representatives Pedro Antonio Pérez Sánchez and Salvador Pérez Lucena were present to accept the award.

“We love retreads at this tire show,” said North American Tire & Retread Expo organizer Gus Lima.

Allied Retread Technologies placed second and Centre Techno Pneu placed third in the contest.

In addition to a trophy, first place took home $5,000; second place took home $2,500; and third place took home $1,000.

Judges determined the winners based on a number of criteria. The panel of judges included David Stevens, managing director, TRIB; Frederico Schmidt, commercial manager, Vipal Rubber Corp.; and Ron Mohler, commercial development manager, Elgi Rubber Co.

More than 20 companies participated in the contest.

Cosmo Tires, distributed by Tire Group International, has introduced changes to its mileage warranty and road-hazard programs which will now feature a mileage warranty of 40,000-70,000 miles for all passenger and light truck tires offered.

“Our products are over-built and tested on the most rigorous tracks and terrains around the globe and this reflects our investments in manufacturing and quality. Now, all passenger and light truck tires carry Cosmo’s road hazard and mileage warranty ranging from 40,000-70,000 miles," said Dominick Montouri, chief strategy officer of Tire Group International, said.
