Yokohama BluEarth Line Expanding Around the World

At the recent Geneva Motor Show, Yokohama Rubber Co.’s general manager of global tire product planning, Shigeo Komatsu, announced the release of its new BluEarth AE-01 onto the European market.

The tiremaker said it plans to promote the BluEarth series not only in Europe, but throughout the world.

The AE-01 is a latest generation passenger tire in the fuel-efficient BluEarth tire series. It will be available in 40 sizes from 155/80R13 79T to 205/55R16 91H and will be sold around the world, starting in Europe.

Yokohama states it developed the tire primarily for compact cars, for which demand is increasing. BluEarth Technology, already adopted in the flagship BluEarth-1, was used to create the brand new BluEarth AE-01. Through materials and technologies such as nano technology blend rubber, orange oil, aerodynamic design and weight reduction, high levels of safety and comfort have been achieved in addition to fuel-efficient performance. Another characteristic set to boost its tire label profile will be the tire’s reduced external rolling noise. The BluEarth AE-01 follows the BluEarth-1, released in April 2011 in Europe, as the second product under the BluEarth brand name. In addition to the series itself, tires developed based on the BluEarth concept carry the BluEarth concept mark on each sidewall. Yokohama said it is “accelerating development of products” to extend the use of these technologies in replacement and original equipment tires for new cars by expanding the BluEarth series.
