Javed Bodian, president of American International Tires, told SCNow.com that he would like to have a new tire plant “somewhere” by July. Bodian told the news outlet that he hopes to settle on a location in roughly one week.
American International Tires is reportedly shopping multiple cities in South Carolina namely Johnsonville, Florence and Pamplico. Bodian told SCNow.com that the tire plant will be an “$8-$10 million investment to buy equipment and to hire and train 100-plus laborers.”
SCNow.com also reported that Bodian has signed nonbinding agreements in other places.
Yesterday, Tire Review reported that some industry observers view this company and its plans with a good deal of skepticism. Very little is know about American International Tires, the real products it makes, and what its plans are in North America.
Various reports state that approximately six months ago Bodian sold his tire manufacturing plant in India and has ran a tire manufacturing and import business in the United States for 14 years. The names of those business ventures are not known.
Bloomberg Businessweek lists American International Tires Inc. as being founded in 2003 and based in Martinez, Ga.
