Tech Repairs Becomes Increasingly International

(Clacton, U.K./Tyres & Accessories) Headquartered in Johnstown, Ohio, and founded in 1939, Tech International is a family business that describes itself as the world's leading producer of tyre and tube repairs and wheel service solutions.

According to the official literature, the company markets more than 5,000 products to more than 110 countries throughout the world and is recognized as one of the top exporters in the United States.

While Tech has a “dominant tyre repair market share in North America,” Tech has significantly expanded its global manufacturing and sales efforts in recent years. The company operates two modern manufacturing facilities in Europe both operating under internationally recognized quality standards (ISO 9000, 2000) with approvals and preferred supplier status from many of the major tyre companies.

The main facility is based at Lisburn, Northern Ireland, producing the full range of Tech products from raw materials through to finished goods and warehousing with a second facility in Budapest, Hungary. Tech’s European marketing and sales office is located in Belgium, which also includes a newly renovated training centre.

With many years of investment and training, Tech has targeted and developed a very experienced and strong distribution network in excess of 100 separate companies strategically located in Europe, Russia, North Africa and the Middle East.

Earlier this year, Tech International told Tyres & Accessories that the tyre repair and consumables company has seen its most positive growth in the high performance and OTR segments. Specifically, Tech’s sales into the OTR market have grown between 15% and 20% by halfway through 2006 – and there is believed to be more growth headroom yet.

This growth primarily comes down to two reasons: the growth of the OTR market in general and the particular performance of Tech International’s third-generation carbon fibre technology. Taking this into account, the company sees the OTR market as a “key market for development.”
