Tampa Bay area detectives fatally shot a suspected prescription-drug dealer in an undercover drug bust outside a tire dealership in Zephyrhills, Fla.
After searching the suspect, the detectives found that he was unarmed. Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said in a news conference on July 2, that the detectives didn’t know that when they moved in to arrest the suspect outside Big Ben’s Used Tires.
They ordered him to show his hands, Nocco said, but Brown moved in a way that made them fear for their lives.
Nocco told The Tampa Tribune that the suspect had a violent history and had been the subject of an ongoing prescription drug investigation. His arrest record includes a kidnapping charge and two armed robberies.
Nocco did not say what connection the suspect had to the business. Detectives will continue to investigate Big Ben’s Used Tires, which Nocco said is a known spot for drug deals.
