Clemson University Presents 2008 Conference

The 24th Annual Tire Industry Conference, held March 12-14 in Hilton Head, S.C., will focus on ever-changing facets of the tire industry, including the latest design and performance, regulatory issues, technology and global competition and the resultant consequences to the tire and automotive manufacturers and consumers.

The Conference features 22 presentations delivered by experts in their respective fields, including primary tire manufacturing industry, academia, government, tire and vehicle interests.

Industry leaders will speak about future trends, the global forecast and its implications, developing industry alliances and partnerships, the latest study involving embedding piezoelectric-based actuators and sensors in “smart” tires, recent advances in Chinese tire machinery development, and new technology for tracking tires.

Other topics discussed at the conference include: advanced tire technology, facts about natural rubber including what affects its volatile pricing, causes of uneven steel cord distribution, the latest technology in tire cord manufacturing, the new paradigm of “Cooling Fin” technology, current public policy challenges facing the tire industry, the changing role of management, the tire engineer and tire compounder in a litigious society, results of a heavy truck tire debris study, new developments in the retreading industry, and current trends in TPMS technology, among other subjects.

As with previous conferences, there will be ample opportunity to interact with other key members of the industry for updates on the latest business and technology strategies. (Tire Review/Akron)
