Calif. Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. has vetoed AB 1665, a bill that would require “an automotive repair dealer that repairs tires or changes tires shall be capable of diagnosing and servicing a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) in accordance with industry standards if the vehicle is manufactured with the device.”
“Earlier this year, the legislature conducted an oversight hearing that highlighted the need for the Bureau of Automotive Repair to update its regulation to better reflect changes in automotive technology that have occurred in recent decades,” wrote Brown Jr. in a letter addressed to the members of the California State Assembly. “Before a new licensing scheme is enacted, a more comprehensive review is needed.”
