At this week’s Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, Texas, Bridgestone introduced three new tires for different fleet applications: the Greatec R125A wide base trailer radial, Bridgestone M799 mixed service radial and the Bridgestone M770 open-shoulder drive axle radial.
According to the tiremaker, the Greatec R125A offers more payload, longer tire wear and a reduced cost per mile. It features an exclusive belt system to maintain casing shape, with a wide top belt that is optimized for better irregular wear resistance and a waved belt design that holds the tread flat against the road for long, even wear and excellent handling, Bridgestone said.
The tire includes an equalizer rib structure and defense groove design. Both sidewalls have protector ribs to fight curbing, cuts and impacts. The R125A also features a mineral-additive innerliner to help minimize air loss and combat oxidation of the steel cords; stone rejector platforms; cross-rib sipes to improve traction on wet roads; and stressrelief sipes that absorb rib edge stresses and increase mileage the tiremaker added.
The Greatec R125A comes in size 445/50R22.5 (L).
The M799 mixed service radial is designed for fleets that need a long-wearing tire for on-highway service and occasional use on gravel roads and debris-filled job sites. The tire’s all-steel casing provides durability and retreadability, while casing-saving stone rejector platforms help prevent rocks from being trapped in the tread and drilling their way into the belts, Bridgestone said. In addition, thick ribs on both sidewalls protect the casings from cuts and abrasions.
The M799’s cap compound is engineered for on- and off-highway use, while the base compound helps shield the casing from damaging heat for enhanced retreadability. A top steel belt fights flats by adding protection against road hazards, the tiremaker added.
The tire is available in sizes 11R22.5, 11R24.5 and 12R22.5.
The M770 open-shoulder drive axle radial, designed for high traction and high scrub applications in long haul, regional and pickup and delivery service, combines greater tread volume for longer mileage with superb traction in all weather conditions, according to Bridgestone The tire features a groove and block shape to fight lug base cracking and tearing. For enhanced retreadability, the M770 offers stone rejector platforms in all grooves to help prevent stones from getting trapped and drilling into the belts, the company added
The tire currently is available in size 295/75R22.5 (G). Sizes 285/75R24.5 (G), 11R22.5 (G/H) and 11R24.5 (G) will be added during the first quarter of 2012.
