You know, a real apples-to-apples study comparing pricing right down to brand, model, size and load rating.
Our friends at InteliChek, which produces the fabulous market-by-market tire and service price charts you see in Tire Review each month, have been working on such an online tire pricing comparison. And some of their early results are interesting.
For instance, a Goodyear Assurance TripleTred in size 205/55R16 89H fetches $123 per tire at Discount Tire’s sales site, but only $116 per at Tire Rack. Same tire gets $150 at Walmart.com and $143.99 at 1010Tires.com.
The Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S in size 205/55R16 91H is sold for $130 at Discounttire.com, $125 at Tire Rack online, $140 at Walmart.com, and $175.99 at 1010Tire.com.
A 255/45R18 99Y BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW is sold for $182 per at Discounttire.com, $185 at Tire Rack, $215 per at Walmart.com, and a stunning $269.99 at 1010Tire.com
The story is pretty much the same as you look at different lines and sizes. By and large, Tire Rack seems to have the lowest prices and 1010Tires.com has the highest.
