McCarthy Tire Becomes First Commercial Dealer with Advanced-Level OTR Trainer

McCarthy Tire Service has announced that Mark Shimko, Corporate Off-the-Road (OTR) and Commercial Safety Trainer, has attained his 400-Level Earthmover Instructor certification from the Tire Industry Association (TIA).

McCarthy Tire Service has announced that Mark Shimko, Corporate Off-the-Road (OTR) and Commercial Safety Trainer, has attained his 400-Level Earthmover Instructor certification from the Tire Industry Association (TIA). This certification allows Shimko to instruct and certify McCarthy Tire Service OTR tire professionals as Certified Earthmover Technicians (Level 300) through the TIA.

The 400-level certification is the highest level of certification in the OTR tire industry. Shimko is one of only eight individuals globally who met the rigorous academic and practical requirements to hold the instructor title.

“We are very proud of Mark for the hard work and dedication it took to reach this certification level,” said McCarthy. “As a family company, it is vitally important to us that every one of our associates goes home to their loved ones safe and sound. We want to ensure that our associates receive the very best safety training available, which is why we are the first commercial tire dealer in the US with an advanced-level OTR trainer on staff.”

Shimko operates out of McCarthy Tire’s corporate office in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He handles new hire and refresher training for the OTR and commercial truck service operations.

Shimko has 21 years of experience in OTR and commercial truck tire service. He recently obtained his advanced 300-level Earthmover Tire Service certification through TIA and MICHELIN Earthmover. Shimko also holds certifications for the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Part 48 and Part 46 safety training.
