ATD Closes 1H With Loss

American Tire Distributors Holdings Inc. recorded a net loss of $83.5 million on net sales of more than $2.3 billion for its first half of 2014, ending July 5. In the same period last year, ATD posted a net loss of $22.1 million on net sales of $1.7 billion.

In 2014, ATD, through its TriCan Tire Distributors subsidiary, acquired Trail Tire, Extreme Wheel Distributors, Kirks Tire, RTD Edmonton and RTD Calgary. ATD also acquired Terry’s Tire Town and Hercules Tire Holdings in 2014.

More recently, ATD announced that it will sell the commercial tire assets of Terry’s Tire Town to Best-One Tire.

In June, Tire Review reported that ATD filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for an initial public offering of its common stock.
