For the past year, the city of Toldeo, Ohio, has collected roughly 3,650 discarded tires from residents in a series of three “tire amnesty days.”
According to local reports, if city crews went out to collect illegally dumped tires, the disposal cost would be $3 per tire – a cost the city is saving by allowing residents to bring in those tires.
Due to the program’s success, Toledo City Council is considering accepting another tire amnesty grant from the state amounting to $45,000.
