Jason Lin of Hawaii Community College and Joshua Myrick of Broward College in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., have been named the winners of the Standard Motor Products Inc. (SMP) Intermotor Import Leader Automotive Scholarship Competition.
“SMP is proud to recognize up-and-coming technicians, and both Mr. Lin and Mr. Myrick exhibited qualities that let us know the future of the automotive import aftermarket is in good hands,” said Phil Hutchens, vice president engine management marketing at SMP.
Lin and Myrick will both be awarded a $5,000 scholarship for their education in automotive technology and repair at a technical school or college.
During the Intermotor Import Leader Automotive Scholarship Competition more than 500 students completed an online questionnaire that was evaluated based on relevance, creativity, and thoughtfulness in regards to the automotive import industry, SMP said.
Judge John Filippone, master technician and owner of Piedmont Tire and Auto, selected Lin and Myrick for best exhibiting the “import excellence” that is synonymous with Intermotor, SMP adds.
