Retreader Marangoni S.p.a has established a joint venture with GRP Ltd., India’s largest rubber recycling company, to expand commercial vehicle tire retreading in the country.
The JV will bring Marangoni’s splice-less Ringtread system to India’s commercial vehicle fleets, helping them extend the life of their tires and lower their operational costs, the company said in a statement.
“The evolution of the Indian market provides Marangoni a great opportunity to expand its global footprint,” said Massimo De Alessandri, CEO of Marangoni Group. “We have been studying this market for some years now and believe that the time is opportune to propose our retreading system to the country. The expanding road network and the wide acceptance of radials by fast professionalizing fleets gives us the confidence that with GRP, we can establish a solid presence in India.”
The JV will establish a network of tire retreaders that will have access to Marangoni’s equipment and standardized process, materials, and professional training. The first flagship store under the partnership opened Nov. 23 in Indore, a location chosen because it is a large trucking center and has a radialization level of more than 50%, which is much higher than the national rate of 36%.
