Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.’s Aiman Abradbou was selected as the Association of Energy Engineer’s 2014 International Energy Manager or the year. Abradbou serves as Goodyear’s global manager of energy and greenhouse gas.
The International Energy Manager of the Year Award recognizes individuals who have excelled in promoting the practices and principals of energy management, according the Association of Energy Engineers.
Abdrabou leads a team of regional energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) managers who’ve helped Goodyear reduce its energy usage and GHG emissions. In recent years, his team has developed a new company standard for energy conservation, founded a global energy system based on the elements of continuous improvement, and encouraged the continuing education of regional and plant energy leaders, Goodyear said.
“Through Aiman’s leadership and the work of the global, regional and plant energy teams, we have been able to make solid progress in reducing Goodyear’s environmental impact,” said Don Stanley, vice president of product quality and plant technology at Goodyear. “By the end of 2013, we had reduced both energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions by 9% from the baseline established in 2010, keeping us well on track to meet our goal of reducing energy usage and emissions 15% by 2015.”
Abdrabou accepted the award Oct. 1 at the AEE World Energy Engineering Congress.
