Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will officially end production at its only UK manufacturing facility before Christmas, Tyres & Accessories reports.
According to statement from Goodyear, T&A said the Wolverhampton plant will stop production on Dec. 20, 2016, followed by a six-month close-down period.
Goodyear announced the facility closure at the end of the June 2015, which is part of the tiremaker’s Europe, Middle East and Africa business unit restructuring plans. The plant closure will result in the loss of roughly 330 jobs.
According to numerous local media reports, Goodyear has offered Wolverhampton plant employees to continue working for Goodyear at a facility in Mexico; Most employees have turned down the offer.
