General Motors has told car dealers to stop selling nearly 6,300 of its 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave models due to a pending tire recall from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., according to the Detroit Free Press.
During routine testing Goodyear found that some Fortera HL tires, size P255/65R18 109S and produced between Nov. 30 2014 and Jan. 10, 2015, could experience small cracks in the tread. Problems do not indicate a safety issue, Goodyear said in a statement.
The recall could affect 48,500 tires of which 32,000 were made for GM and the other 16,400 were replacement tires. Currently, the tiremaker is working with the National Highways Traffic Safety Administration and expects to have an official recall within a month.
GM said once Goodyear officially issues a recall, it too will issue a recall on vehicles, but in the meantime, it’s working to make sure that there are no sales of the vehicles sent to dealers.
