Yokohama Rubber Co. said it will increase production capacity of its Yokohama Tire Philippines Inc. passenger tire plant.
The expansion plans will boost annual capacity from seven million tires to more than 10 million tires by 2013, then to 13 million tires in 2014, and on to 17 million tires by 2017.
Work on the plant expansion begins in February, and the first phase will be done in 2013; the second phase will be finished in 2014, and the final expansion phase by 2017.
At present, Yokohama is expanding the production capacities at Shinshiro-Minami Plant in Japan, Hangzhou Yokohama Tire Co. in China, Yokohama Rubber Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., and Yokohama Tire Corp. in the U.S. In addition, the company is working on the construction of a tire plant in Russia for operation starting in 2012.
