The Tire Industry Association has announced dates for its 2015 Certified Commercial Tire Service (CTS) Instructor Training and Certification Classes in Baltimore, Md. and Denver, Colo.
TIA’s CTS instructor course is designed to train the trainer. The class combines classroom and hands-on demonstrations and covers all aspects of truck tire and wheel servicing including OSHA regulations, mounting, demounting, inflation, torque, puncture repair, balance and more, according to TIA. Additionally the program meets training requirements established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
“By using a train-the-trainer model, the program gives commercial tire dealers the flexibility to train one employee and then have that employee hold training classes for others at a time when it is most convenient,” said Kevin Rohlwing, TIA senior vice president of training.
The CTS instructor course is offered in both a four- and three-day program. Students for the four-day class arrive a day early for a full day of hands-on training, TIA said. Three-day students will join their classmates later for classroom instruction and hands-on demonstrations.
Participants with less than two years of hands-on commercial truck tire experience must register for the four-day class, TIA said.
