TGI Collecting Supplies for Earthquake Victims in Ecuador

Tire Group International partnered with the Consulate of Ecuador in Miami to collect supplies to help those affected by the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that devastated Ecuador on April 16.

TGI is inviting customers, colleagues, vendors and corporate friends to donate nonperishable foods, clothing in good condition, bottled water and sports drinks, mattresses, tents, awnings and hygiene supplies to the Consulate of Ecuador in Miami, which will send the supplies to Ecuador.

“The situation in Ecuador is especially desperate right now,” said Joaquin Gonzalez Jr., president of

TGI. “With such close ties to the Ecuadorian community, the TGI Team immediately banded together to begin collecting donations. Since Monday (April 18), the TGI Family has donated truck loads of bedding sheets, clothing for children to adults, baby diapers, first aid kits, rubbing alcohol, canned goods, crackers, cookies, water, and Gatorade.”

To donate, supplies can be send to the Consulate of Ecuador in Miami: Oficinas de Provex Inc. 7061 NW 87th Ave., Miami, FL 33178.

BKT has announced its membership of the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR). BKT said it is thus taking a further step in promoting long-term sustainable practices, culminating in a more environmentally conscious and friendly production in line with the principles defined by GPSNR.

Natural rubber production holds several opportunities for improvement in both environmental and social terms, BKT said. The expansion of rubber plantations is likely to influence tropical forests, but by means of sustainable practices, it is possible to protect biodiversity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Similarly, ensuring dignified working conditions and respecting workers' rights on rubber plantations is central to promoting an ethical and sustainable industry, according to BKT.
