Strike Authorized at CTNA’s Charlotte Plant

(Akron/Tire Review) Union leaders have been authorized to call a strike at Continental Tire North America’s (CTNA) tire plant in Charlotte, N.C., according to a report in the Charlotte Observer.

Mark Cieslikowski, president of USW Local 850, which represents the plant, said union leaders are still trying to negotiate a new labor contract with CTNA officials. The contract expires Apr. 30.

CTNA has threatened to “indefinitely suspend” production at its Charlotte facility unless workers agree to approximately 35% wage and benefit reductions.
