Rumors are flying now that one of South Korea’s tiremakers may soon step up as the next provider of race tires to the Formula One series.
Without specifying which brand, Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport F1 said one of the three South Korean companies Hankook, Kumho and Nexen would become the lone supplier as of the 2011 season.
Bridgestone is playing out its F1 supply deal, which goes through the upcoming 2010 season. The German magazine suggested F1 officials are considering rule tweaks that might lower Bridgestone’s annual F1 costs estimated at around $200 million and thereby entice it to stay.
