Affinia’s Raybestos brand has added more than 87 air disc brakes for popular Class 7 and 8 truck, transit bus and school bus applications from major OEMs.
The air disc brakes, which currently are available and ready to ship, tolerate the higher speeds and increased horsepower of today’s heavy-duty vehicles and school buses, according to the company. They also accommodate the shorter stopping distances required by current FMVSS 121 regulatory standards for Class 8 vehicles.
Raybestos air disc brakes offer better fade resistance by reducing heat build-up to maintain consistent stopping power during stop-and-go driving and steep downgrades. For added durability, Affinia said the parts are heat treated for the longest possible service life. Where applicable, installation hardware is also included.
Raybestos brake linings feature di-chromate and powder coated finishes to prevent corrosion; and a mechanical attachment with NRS technology for a secure bond to withstand extreme heat and chemicals to ensure safe braking performance in emergency conditions, according to the maker.
