The teams will be supplied with three particular types of tyres one for each different race surface encountered during the rally tour. These are: The P-Zero for tarmac rallies; the Scorpion for gravel surfaces; and the Sottozero in ice and snow races. The P-Zero will be available with two types of compound, including a softer mix to improve performance in the wet. The Sottozero will be available with two different types of patterns, with one specifically designed for snow and the other for icy conditions.
The FIA’s decision to ban tyre mousse comes into effect in 2008. Cutting is still allowed, but only at tarmac rallies when conditions are wet and only to officially approved patterns. (Tyres & Accessories/Staffordshire, U.K.)
