A mistrial was declared on June 28 in a defective tire lawsuit against Bridgestone Americas resulting from a 2003 accident involving a Ford Bronco II.
Also sued in the Great Falls, Mont., action were Ford Motor Co. and local car dealer Pete’s Auto.
Reports said the mistrial was called by District Judge Julie Macek due to repeated violations by the plaintiff attorneys of a previous court order restricting what information could be presented to the jury.
The trial began last week, some seven years after the suit was first filed.
According to reports, 28-year-old Bryan Mizenko and his grandfather purchased a Ford Bronco from Pete’s Auto in 2001. It’s alleged that a separation of Firestone brand tire was the cause of a debilitating accident involving Bryan in 2003. As a result of the accident, Bryan sustained a closed-head injury, resulting in paralysis and permanent cognitive impairment.
