Michelin North America is investing more than $270 million to establish a distribution center near Spartanburg, S.C.
“The Spartanburg distribution facility will cap a multi-year evolution of Michelin’s distribution network in North America. We see it as a transformational milestone designed to better serve our customers while optimizing inventories and improving supply efficiency,” said Pete Selleck, chairman and president of Michelin North America.
The distribution center will consist of five buildings, comprising approximately 3.3 million square feet, and be located near seven of Michelin’s tire plants in upstate South Carolina.
Construction on the distribution center is expected to begin later this year, with the first phase expected to be complete in late 2017. The entire project is scheduled to complete in early 2019.
