The South Korean company announced in January 2008 it planned to build in south Bibb County its first manufacturing plant outside of Asia. The company expects to employ up to 450 people and make a $225 million investment in the project.
Although the company had to push back its construction schedule about nine to 12 months because of the economy, Kumho honored its commitment to come to Bibb County by closing on the bond transaction with the authority before the end of 2008.
By the end of this month, a bridge loan for the acquisition of the property should be paid off, said attorney Kevin Brown. Also several grants, including a OneGeorgia Edge Grant and an Employment Incentive Program grant, and an application for an Economic Development Administration Grant are on schedule.
