Kumho has won the Red Dot Design Award 2015 for three of its tires: the Ecsta HS51, Cruzen HP91 and Sealant Tire, according to an article in the Korea Times. This marks the fourth consecutive year the tiremaker has earned the honor.
The article cited a Kumho official as saying that design has become an important criterion when motorists choose tires, and that the tiremaker will invest more in design to differentiate its products from those of its competitors.
The eco-friendly Ecsta HS51 “enables vehicles to boost dynamic driving and driver comfort,” while the Cruzen HP91 SUV tire’s silica compound increases surface traction and reduces rolling resistance, according to the Korea Times report. The Sealant Tire, released in January 2014, repairs itself when the tread is penetrated by sharp objects, according to the article.
