Hankook Tire Co. is investing in R&D with plans to build the Hankook Tire Test Engineering Center, in Sangju City, South Korea.
The tiremaker plans to invest $240 million until 2020 for the construction of this new facility. Representatives for Hankook have already signed an agreement with city of Sangju City.
Once completed, the new R&D facility will allow engineers to design, produce and test tires all in one location, playing a key role in Hankook’s tire technology development.
The Hankook Tire Test Engineering Center will feature state-of-the-art test facilities and be the largest proving ground in South Korea, according to the tiremaker.
The facility will feature a top-tier global standard tire testing facility, Hankook said, with capabilities to test UHP tires, as well as perform truck/bus tire tests. The center’s test track will be able to emulate all road conditions and weather from around the world, allowing the company to test for every market, it said.
