DCI Offers Free Product Data on New Website

Direct Communications Inc. (DCi) will provide free PIES product data to the automotive aftermarket through a new website – PIESfree.com. The new service will be available for all WDs, manufacturer reps and qualified aftermarket businesses at all levels of distribution that need standardized product data, DCI said.

“This is a good move for our industry,” said DCi’s president Mark Toebben. “It has the potential to put accurate, validated product data into every parts store in North America, regardless of industry affiliation. It also opens up new sales channels for independent store owners who are considering building a website or selling on eBay, Amazon, Newegg, or hundreds of other online marketplaces.”

Qualified resellers can register for an account at PIESfree.com, and download product data by manufacturer brand, the company said. Users have no limit on how often data is downloaded or how many brands can be download and accounts will also get weekly reports alerting them of new part numbers, descriptions and pricing, DCI said.

PIESfree.com will offer part-level data, including manufacturer part number, descriptions, dimensions, weight, hazardous material codes and country of origin. The site will also include the minimum advertised price (MAP) or unilateral price, if a manufacturer has a retail pricing policy, DCI noted.

PIESfree.com is expected to have product data available for download by the 2014 SEMA Show, it said. For more information, visit PIESfree.com.
