Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. released its third annual corporate social responsibility and sustainability report, “Responsibility the Cooper Way,” for 2014.
The report offers information including Cooper’s energy usage, water usage intensity, landfill usage intensity, materiality assessment, sustainable tire innovation and employee safety excellence system.
“As we begin our second century in the tire business, topics such as corporate social responsibility and sustainability are increasingly important,” said Roy Armes, Cooper chairman, CEO and president. “This report details our goals and progress on environmental protection as well as technology and innovation, safety, and philanthropy. Cooper is making progress on these initiatives and is committed to continuing to work on and report on our progress to key stakeholders.”
Since 2009, Cooper reported energy usage intensity decreased 12%, water usage intensity decreased 8% and landfill usage intensity decreased 40%. The company also saved approximately 14.5% of current energy use, based on 2015 production levels.
