Conti’s Ohio Plant Wins Award

Continental’s St. Marys, Ohio, plant received the Ambassador of Energy Efficiency award from Efficiency Smart.

“We are proud to receive this award,” said Frank Smith, St. Marys’ plant engineering manager.  “We had a great experience working with Efficiency Smart for our energy-efficient lighting upgrades. Their technical staff proved a valuable resource in measuring our energy usage and verifying the amount of energy and financial savings.”

During the year, Conti partnered with Efficiency Smart to replace metal halide lights in its facility with high-performance T8s (HPT8s). The company also installed LED wall-packs and LED flood lights.

Since the plant operated 24 hours a day, the new lighting fixtures can save up to 348,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy annually. The St. Marys plant is the 30th recipient of the Ambassador of Energy Efficiency award since its inception in 2013.

Yokohama Rubber held a groundbreaking event on April 15 for its new consumer and light truck tire plant at the Alianza Industrial Park in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. The company said the event was well attended by a crowd of state and local officials, as well as management from Yokohama companies, including YRC Chairman and CEO Masataka Yamishi; Yokohama Corporation North America (YCNA) CEO Shinichi Takimoto; and Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC) President and CEO Jeff Barna.
