Continental introduced two new aftermarket aids – a maintenance handbook for installers and a timing belt kits catalog – at this week’s AAPEX show.
“The ‘Little Black Book’ is primarily for the professional repair technician to show the customer what could go wrong under the hood and what objective data supports his or her explanation,” said Tom Lee, Continental’s marketing manager for North American aftermarket products. “It’s another sales tool to help the technician bring the sale to fruition.”
The 5.5×7.5-inch handbook will have visual examples of possible failures in hose, belts, tensioners and timing products and include solid industry figures from AAA and the Auto Care Association to support the technician’s diagnosis.
The new catalog for Continental’s expanded line of Elite-branded timing kits includes up-to-date application coverage from 1974 through 2016 and contains applications for timing belts, timing tensioners and idler pulleys and all four series of kits Continental brings to the market.
The catalog also contains actual images that reflect kit components; information on the best-in-class guarantee mileage program; a competitive interchange covering all major brands; and a troubleshooting guide to assist professional repair technicians in diagnosing potential failures.
