According to the company, the move has been made in order to “deliver the highest levels of customer-service and to simplify product identification, tyres developed for the European market now have a different marking from those developed for non-European markets.”
European tyres will have both the DOT number and the E75 homologation number on the sidewall. Non-European tyres will carry only the DOT number on the sidewall. Andy Dingley, senior analyst at Bridgestone, said: “This is an important development for both the trade and customers as Bridgestone only provides warranties for road tyres that follow EU regulations. Tyres that don’t carry the E75 number will not be protected by a warranty in European markets.” (Tyres & Accessories/Staffordshire, U.K.)
