Big O Tires ‘Raising the Stakes’ at Annual Convention

Big O Tires is “Raising the Stakes” in 2015. That’s the message more than 700 Big O Tires franchise owners, managers and corporate associates heard during the recent Big O Tires Convention in Las Vegas.BigOTires-logo

Each year the goal of the Big O convention is for franchisees of Big O Tires, a subsidiary of TBC Corp., to learn and share ideas that they can bring back to their individuals teams. This year’s convention featured breakout sessions and panel discussions, a vendor tradeshow, an award ceremony and keynote from Sean Tuohy.

Tuohy, a franchisee whose family was chronicled in film The Blind Side, advised attendees to take risks. Risks changed Tuohy’s life when he welcomed Michael Oher, an NFL offensive lineman, into his family; and taking risks has helped him own more than 90 franchises today.

During the convention Big O leadership also recapped 2014 and outlined a game plan for success in 2015.

“For over 50 years, Big O Tires has worked diligently to be the Team you Trust in your community,” said Brant Wilson, TBC’s senior vice president of franchise. “As the organization continues to grow and expand its footprint, it will be brand recognition created through an award winning advertising campaign, an underlying commitment to exceeding customer expectations and knowledge of the industry that will propel Big O Tires to the next level.”

Awards given away at this year’s convention are as follows:

  • Scott Koldenhoven received the Point of Light Award recognizing extraordinary franchisees that have contributed to the Big O organization with their knowledge, expertise, and dedication.
  • Brothers Kent and Kory Coleman took home 2014 Franchisee of the Year.
  • Standing “O” Awards, recognizing franchisee and associates that go above and beyond to support Big O, were given to Don Helphrey, Brent Blevins, Rod Schmidt, Laura McLaughlin, Anthony Shay, Mike Kinnen and Jim Miller.
  • Tom Huls took home the Platinum Performer Award recognizing Huls for his achievement winning Tire Review’s Platinum Performer Award in November.
