Biden Mandates Vaccines, COVID Testing for Large Companies

The rule will require employers with 100-plus employees to ensure their workforce is fully vaccinated. Workers not vaccinated will need to provide a negative test result weekly before coming into work.

As part of his “Path Out of the Pandemic” COVID Action Plan, President Biden and the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will require all employers with 100-plus employees to ensure workers are vaccinated or tested weekly.

The rule, being developed by OSHA, will require employers that have 100 or more employees to ensure their workforce is fully vaccinated or require workers who aren’t vaccinated to provide a negative COVID-19 test result at least once a week before coming to work.

According to the White House website, “OSHA will issue an Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) to implement this requirement. This requirement will impact over 80 million workers in private sector businesses with 100+ employees.”

Part of the COVID-19 Action Plan will also require employers with more than 100 employees to provide paid time off to workers to get vaccinated and recover from any under-the-weather side effects post-vaccination. This will also be implemented through ETS.
