BendPak began construction of a new $65 million manufacturing facility that will nearly double the size of the company’s current manufacturing and administrative capacity. The 480,000 square-foot, 15-acre complex in Santa Paula, Calif., is one of three new factories BendPak says will help facilitate production, increase efficiency and improve delivery times of its products.
The new manufacturing facility, slated for completion this summer, will be used primarily for manufacturing certain light and medium duty lift products, select parking systems, as well as other vehicle repair tools and equipment. BendPak said the plant will house numerically-controlled turning and milling equipment, automated welding systems and full-capability services like comprehensive metallurgy testing, heat treatment, automated powder coating and other specialty operations. The facility also will house assembly and packaging operation centers and product development testing labs.
“Where other companies in the industry are shrinking their capabilities to save money, we’ve got big plans for growth and expansion,” said Derek Taylor, BendPak’s communications director. “This secondary factory will help us keep pace with growing international demand for reasonably-priced, high-quality automotive service equipment.”
