AME International released the new 11950 Bead Seat Band Installer during the 67th Tire Industry Association Off-the-Road Tire Conference. The bead seat band of a tire can weigh over 200 pounds, and picking up the tire with the tire hand and rotating it to vertical for mounting can cause the bead seat band to fall out and damage the band, crane, crane hydraulics or the technician.
The 11950 Bead Seat Band Installer installs the beat seat safely, and the tool adjusts to accommodate 49-63-in. OTR rim components, according to AME. The tool works for bias and radial tires and reduces the chance of bead seat band separation during vertical mounting, the company says.
