RMA Honors Plants for Safety Improvements

(Akron/Tire Review) Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) honored 63 tire and rubber manufacturing facilities for improving their worker health and safety.

RMA’s Safety and Health Improvement Program (SHIP) Awards were given at RMA’s annual meeting, held Feb. 25-27.

Two categories of awards were given for workplace safety improvements, which are measured by the incidence rate for lost workday cases. "Excellence" awards are for facilities that achieve an incidence rate that is 75% better than the average achieved by plants that provided data to RMA.

“Improvement” awards are for plants achieving a 10% improvement in incidence rate reductions compared to the RMA average incidence rate.

RNR Tire Express (RNR) has opened nominations for its 2024 Mother’s Day Giveaway. This year’s event includes $100,000 in prizes, as well as a new 2024 Buick Encore for one select nominee, to be awarded May 12, RNR said.

“The thousands of nominations that our team has had the privilege of receiving over these past seven years have continuously showcased why it is we pour so much into this particular campaign,” RNR Tire Express Founder/CEO Larry Sutton said. “Very few things embody the ethos and culture of RNR quite like the personal stories of strength, commitment, and selflessness that a mother displays on a daily basis.”
