CEMB USA has released its AutoAdaptive Dynamic OPB feature on select wheel balancer models.

The feature is a tolerance calculation system that uses a tape-on weight placed in a computer-chosen location instead of two weight locations chosen by the operator. It uses a single operator display, a 3-D scanner and laser pointer to simplify weight placement and reduce balancing time in over 70 percent of wheel assemblies in today’s market. The feature is now available on CEMB wheel balancer models ER100EVO, ER75TD, ER73TD and ER72TD, the company says.

With traditional wheel balancing, a wheel is considered balanced when the residual imbalance is less than 5 grams per plane, independent of the wheel’s dimensions and weight. The vibration a driver perceives when driving, considering whatever imbalance, can also be affected by the wheel’s weight and shape. With a heavier wheel, there is less residual imbalance that the driver will feel. With a light wheel, even with a minimal residual imbalance, the driver will sense noticeable vibrations on the steering wheel.

The tolerance calculation system’s AutoAdaptive Mode is based on the evaluation of the residual imbalance limit value corresponding to an acceptable perceived vibration. For each wheel that is balanced, the software detects weight and dimensions and calculates the tolerance value that will cancel any vibration perceived on the steering wheel. AutoAdaptive Mode grants the highest comfort when driving, and together with OPB Program, saves balancing time.
