NHTSA Launches Compliance Assistance Program

The National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration introduced a new resource to help regulated entities comply with federal safety regulations.

The National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration introduced its new Compliance Assistance Program, a resource to help regulated entities, including vehicle and trailer manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, and dealers, comply with safety regulations as a means to promote safety on U.S. highways.

“NHTSA seeks to promote safety through proactive and responsive engagement,” said Heidi King,NHTSA deputy administrator. “In addition to vigilant enforcement, NHTSA also serves as a federal resource that small and large manufacturers can contact for guidance on federal regulations. A transparent partnership with manufacturers assures the development of safe, reliable vehicles and equipment.”

The Compliance Assistance Program was set up to ensure that companies in the motor vehicle and equipment industry – especially new entrants and small manufacturers – have access to information and tools to fully understand and comply with their federal obligations. The program provides resources and education needed for entities to be successful and will provide a direct channel for communication between commercial entities and the NHTSA.

Regulated entities can contact NHTSA for guidance on compliance issues at [email protected] and visit NHTSA’s website for details.
