Senior Director of MarketingToyo Tire USA Corp.
Amy Coleman loves to sell tires – her passion for the industry and its marketing is palpable. Since joining Toyo Tire USA Corp. in 2011, the brand has grown to roughly five times the industry growth rate.
“I’m inspired by people who truly challenge the way we think,” says Coleman. “For example, Richard Branson and Elon Musk want to colonize Mars. There are no bounds to what they are willing to try to do. They have both challenged the status quo in their industries, and their products and services reflect that way of thinking.”
Coleman challenges her own marketing team and company leaders to think differently about how they do business, how they market the company and its products and how they might best nurture relationships built over the last 50 years.
“I like to learn from other industries and challenge my team to try new things,” she says. “I love the fact that marketing plays such an important role in the tire business. Many consumers look at tires as being black and round. They easily underestimate the features and benefits that our products offer. Great products must be matched with strong marketing campaigns in order to be successful in the tire industry.”
FUN FACT: When she’s not forging new trails at work, Coleman can often be conquering them on the weekend. Last summer she and the rest of the Toyo marketing team completed the Tough Mudder obstacle race.
