Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has rolled out three new winter tires: the WM-SA2, Weather-Master Snow, and Discoverer M+S Sport.
The three studless tires cover 28 different sizes and can be used on vehicles ranging from performance passenger car to sports utility vehicle, the tiremaker said.
“Thanks to a more comprehensive winter tire lineup, consumers now have more choices when it comes to their winter tire options and their specific winter driving environment, whether on snow covered roads or cold wet highways,” said Scott Jamieson, Cooper’s director of product management. “Winter tires are the right choice for consumers who drive in temperatures below 45 degrees (7C), by delivering better stopping grip than conventional all-season tires, with or without snow.”
The WM-SA2 is a performance touring winter tire featuring a performance-enhancing directional tread pattern that provides added grip in snow, slush, cold and wet conditions, Cooper said. Additionally, the tire features tapered alternating grooves that deliver enhanced braking and improved traction. The tire can be used on coupes and midsize sedans.
The Weather-Master Snow is a high performance, asymmetric tire, the tiremaker said. It offers a special silica-rich compound that improves grip, as well as provides top braking performance on slippery surfaces. The tire is available for H/V speed ratings and features the severe snow symbol.
The Discoverer M+S Sport is designed for drivers who need excellent traction on snow and ice, the company added. Featuring "snow groove" technology, the M+S Sport plows through snow and ice with improved traction. The tire’s tread design features biting edges for enhanced grip. The Discoverer M+S Sport is ideal for CUVS and SUVs and is available in T, H and V speed ratings, Cooper said.
